Finally, I was able to update this Travel Photo blog despite my occasional laziness :) This post is about our  Palawan trip last year.

Puerto Princesa Airport

Our Palawan trip had been in the works since we’re given free tickets by Cebu Pacific, due to flight delayed  of our Boracay trip. At first, we were concerned if the flight will push through because of the storm “Mina,”  but it did. When we arrived at the Puerto Princesa airport in Palawan, it was really hot and sunny. We were  picked up at the airport by the free airport transfer of Deep Forest Inn. We decided to stay at Deep Forest  Inn during our entire stay in Puerto Princesa since they were affordable place to stay, with rooms for as low  as P1,900 for 2 people per night and they have swimming pool.

During our first afternoon in Puerto Princesa, we negotiated with a trike driver for a City tour. We only visited  the Crocodile Farm and Baker’s Hill because the trike driver always complaining for additional fare when we  already agreed for the price. Since we were already tired and raining a little bit, we decided that we’ll just  go to the tiangge and look for some “pasalubong” and “abubot”.

Later in the night, we went to Badjao SeaFront for our dinner. When arrived there, the line was quite long  already so we went to Kinabuch Bar and Grill but we never got a chance to taste their food. We had to  leave Kinabuch  because they have forgotten our order LOL. So we decide to look for some place to eat  because we’re already starving that night, we ended up eating at Shakey’s.

For our second day, we visited Ugong Rock and the Underground River which is a UNESCO World Heritage  Site. Going to Sabang Beach, the jump-off point for the Underground River, is about two hours by van from  the main city. From there you had to visit the park office to get a permit to visit the Underground River and  book your boat to the river entrance.

Our tour guide took care of getting the permit and the boat. Boat  ride is first-come, first-served basis. So, while waiting for our scheduled afternoon trip at the Underground  River, we went to the near restaurant by the beach and had our  lunch (3 o’clock lunch). Free buffet lunch is included in the packaged tour.

Right after lunch, we waited about an hour before it was time to board our boat to the Underground River  itself. It is a short boat ride across the bay to the Underground River.

At the river entrance, you had to sign  their register, then walk a short board walk trail going to the cave entrance, and wait in line to board small  boats with outriggers that would take you into the cave. Monkeys and Monitor Lizard roam freely around  the area of the entrance of the river.

From there we got a small paddled boat and entered the magnificent natural wonder. Boat guides of the  Undergroung River are well known for their hilarious humor. Cracking jokes every now and then, breaking  the silence inside the cave.  The amazing formation of stalactites and stalagmites were spectacular. We  also saw lots of bats and birds hanging from the ceiling. We were advised to keep our mouths closed when  we look up, guano often falls from the upper reaches. The tour inside the cave lasted half an hour to forty  five minutes and It was such a great experience. I am so glad I’ve seen the Underground River.

After the Underground Tour we went back to the hotel and rested. The next day, we spent the whole  morning swimming in the pool of Deep Forest Inn. By lunch time, we had our lunch at Badjao Seafront Restaurant. After lunch, we went to city market to buy pasalubong again. At around 3pm, we were back at the hotel. Pack our things and proceeded to the airport for our flight back to Manila.

Here are some of our Palawan trip photos I picked to share.
